Salty Popcorn

This is a very easy recipe. You can make it with your eyes shut, (although we don’t really recommend it). Popcorn is great for movies or snacking throughout the day and is a healthy snack alternative.


  • 60g Popping Corn
  • 1 Tbsp Sunflower Oil (or any high smoking point oil)
  • Salt to taste


  • Lidded Deep Sauce Pan
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Serving Bowl
  • (Optional) Coffee Grinder



  1. Place the empty pan on the hob on a high flame.
  2. Add the oil to the pan.
  3. Once you can see the oil rippling, add the popcorn and stir with a wooden spoon to insure the corn is coated in oil.
  4. Wait till the first popcorn pops. This should take around 30 seconds to 1 minute. When this happens, add the lid to the pan.
  5. Let the popcorn pop for about 2~3 minutes. When you hear the popcorn only popping once every 3 seconds, turn the heat off. 
  6. Lift the pan from the hob with the handle and shake it so that the popcorn on the bottom does not burn. Ensure that the lid does not lift of the pan, place a hand on the lid to prevent this.
  7. Place the popcorn into the serving bowl and prepare the seasoning salt.
Seasoning Salt

This is an optional step as you can buy seasoning salt for popcorn.

  1. Pour your salt into a coffee grinder.
  2. Blitz the salt into a fine powder.
  3. Add to the popcorn and distribute the salt evenly.

This fine salt is perfect to stick on freshly popped corn.(Make extra seasoning salt for more popcorn)
